How do I get a grant application?

What are you looking for when you review grants?
We are looking for programs and projects that impact students and cannot be financially supported by the District.
When will my grant request be reviewed?
You should hear back from the Foundation within 60 days of the due date.
If I have requested funds from another organization or source for the same grant should I let you know?
It is always helpful to know if you have requested funds from other groups, organizations or sources.
Who determines if my grant request is approved?
Your grant request will be reviewed at the building level by your administrator prior to submittal. Administrators review grant requests to make sure they fit with the overall strategic plan and educational goals of the district. The grant request is then reviewed by the HVEF Grant Review Committee, composed of staff and community members. After reviewing, the grant request is presented to the HVEF Board of Trustees with recommendations and a vote takes place. The HVEF has the authority and responsibility for determining which programs receive funding.
Do I have any other responsibilities if awarded this grant?
Recipients of grants will be required to furnish receipts, by March 31, as well as a reflection of the project. The reflection is the last portion of the proposal form. This reflection component is due by June 30 of the school year.
Why might my grant be rejected?
Grants could be rejected for the following reasons: insufficient requested information; poorly written; unprofessional submittal; duplicate grant submitted; integrity of the proposal does not align with the HVEF mission statement; alignment to the HVS curriculum is missing; or the impact to student learning is not clear; insufficient funding to support at this time.
Will I receive any feedback if rejected?
You will be provided information on why your grant was rejected. You are also encouraged to make changes and resubmit the following year.
How do I access the grant money once awarded a grant?
You can pay with your own dollars and submit to the HVEF for reimbursement or, you may seek building funds directly then submit receipts to HVEF for reimbursement to building.
What is the difference between a Great Idea Grant and a Foundation Grant?
A Great Idea Grant is intended to support/ideas that benefit students in a particular classroom and are often developed as a pilot to test new ideas. Foundation Grants are intended to support programs that enhance instruction district, school or grade-wide. These grants could be a direct result of a successful Great Idea Grant being implemented on a larger scale.
If a grant is received, how long to I have to make a purchase?
Grant many is available by December of a grant year. Purchases should be made no later than March 31 of the school year the grant was awarded. Final reports are due as soon as possible, but no later than June 30.
